COP31 – The Implementation COP

The Road to Belém

The primary purpose of COP31 is to shift the global climate framework from high-level promises to concrete action, earning it the designation of the “Implementation COP”.

Taking place from November 9–20, 2026, in Antalya, Türkiye (co-hosted with Australia), the summit aims to establish investment roadmaps, secure financing, and implement measurable projects to prevent global temperatures from overshooting the critical 1.5°C threshold. The purpose of the summit is driven by three presidential targets, four core policy negotiation goals, and a specific “Action Agenda.”

CfRN will be actively participating at COP31 to make sure the rights of rainforest nations are advanced and efforts to reverse deforestation are recognized and supported as part of the implementation process.

Join us

Join us for a series of topics on rainforest, climate science, finance, and sustainability throughout COP31 presented by Coalition for Rainforest Nations and fellow global climate allies. This series is designed for all people who wish to have a better understanding of the Paris Agreement, climate policy, carbon markets, and sustainable development. Our expert speakers will provide valuable insights and answer your questions on these critical topics.

Tracking carbon fluxes in tropical forests: Global to regional and national carbon budgets in near real time to drive action

Bringing together work from projects including THRAC3E, RECCAP2 and RECCAP3, this event will show how near-real-time monitoring and carbon budgets at different scales can improve our understanding of the role of tropical forests in the carbon cycle. Using rainforest nations as case studies, it will explore how timely, robust scientific information can help countries track carbon emissions, identify emerging threats, and inform forest protection and restoration.
