Support Rainforest Nations on International Forest Day

International Day of the Forest is a reminder of the vital role that forests play in sustaining our planet and the urgent need to protect them.

The climate emergency is happening faster than predicted, and deforestation is a leading contributor to this crisis. To keep the pathway towards a 1.5-degree target alive, we must prioritize slowing, stopping, and reversing global deforestation. The Coalition’s rainforest nations have made significant progress in reducing forest-related emissions since joining the Paris Agreement.

Our member countries are demonstrating climate leadership by protecting their rainforests, even at the expense of economic growth. Rather than granting concessions to cut down forests for commercial purposes, these countries are leaving their forests intact.

The Paris Agreement includes a dedicated article (Article 5) on the importance of forests in mitigating climate change, and it recognizes the REDD+ framework as a means of reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation. We are proud to provide policy and technical expertise to support these countries in their efforts to save their rainforests. In partnership with countries, we also help countries sell their emissions reductions as carbon credits or offsets to individuals and corporations so they can get the money they deserve for their efforts.

But we need your help. Your donation can make a significant difference in our work supporting countries' efforts to protect our planet's forests for generations to come. Together, we can slow, stop, and reverse global deforestation and mitigate the effects of the climate emergency.
